Suspension Repair & Service

Our vehicle's suspension system (i.e., shocks, struts or hydraulic) is something we often take for granted. However, after supporting several tons of metal year after year, eventually the shocks will wear out and repairs will be necessary. Some people mistakenly believe the suspension or drive-train is mainly about having a smooth ride, and therefore these repairs aren't as important as other maintenance issues like oil changes or brakes. However, having a bad drive-train and suspension can greatly affect your ability to control the vehicle, especially when stopping or turning, so it's in your best interest not to ignore this part of auto maintenance. At Eurospec, we use the right tools and expert technicians to troubleshoot and repair any kind of such repairs. Our excellence in German, European and American cars come from having the dealership trained technicians and we use the same tools and equipment that they use.

How do you know when it's time for  suspension repair? Your vehicle will usually tell you. Here are eight things to watch for :

  1. A rough ride
When you begin to feel discomfort while driving over bumpy or irregular roads, it most certainly means that your shocks or struts are wearing out. A harsh ride is a clear sign that your vehicle's suspension system needs a service.

  2. Drift" or "Drag" while taking a corner
With an imbalanced suspension system, you would often feel the car "drift" or "pull" while making a turn, increasing the risk of a rollover. If you begin to sense this issue, it's about time to drive your car to the auto experts.

  3. "Nosedive" or "dip" when braking
When the suspension begins to wear out, you're likely to experience the vehicle's body staggering forward and reeling nose-first whenever the brakes are applied suddenly.

  4. Irregular tyre treads
Inspect and take a quick look at your tyre treads. If you observe that the treads are wearing down unevenly on your tires, or if you notice smooth bald spots, this is most certainly a symptom that the suspension is not balancing the car evenly.

  5. Damaged, "oily" shocks
If you can take a peek under the vehicle, give some attention to the shocks & struts. If they seem to be greasy or oily, there is a high chance that they are spilling fluids. It's probably time to get those shocks replaced.

  6. Try the "bounce test"
Try this simple test if you suspect your suspension to be wearing out. Keep the car in "P-park" mode and push your vehicle's bonnet downwards with all your weight, "bounce" it a few times and then release. Repeat the same on the rear of the vehicle. If the car bounces more than two or three times after you release it, then it is a sign that the suspension is wearing out.

  7. Hydraulic air suspension warning sign
When a yellow light referring to the suspension comes on. it means that your hydraulic system needs service or repair. When you notice your car leaning to one side when in motion or in stationary, it means that your hydraulic suspension components are damaged, usually a leak in the air suspension is the major cause.

Steering & Drive-train Repair

Unlike some mechanical problems, steering and drive-train problems generally give you plenty of warning that something is wrong, and the warning signs persist until the problem is fixed or the system fails. At Eurospec, we go through step by step procedure to find out even the minor issues in your steering and drive-train which even goes unnoticed. We have got all the tools equipment and technicians onboard to diagnose and fix all the issues.

How do you know when it's time for Steering or drive-train service? if your vehicle is exhibiting any of the following symptoms :

  1. Difficulty in turning the wheel.
This could indicate the system has a problem. It can be an issue with driveshaft or leaking steering fluid.

  2. Steering wheel vibration.
Strong vibrations from the steering wheel can indicate an issue with the power steering. A build-up of contaminants in the system can cause this issue. It can also be an issue related to the driveshaft.

  3. Steering slips when you attempt to turn or hold it.
This is another sign that the power steering is failing. This is caused by leakage including faulty pumps, worn steering rack mounts and loose or worn steering belts.

  4. Looseness in steering wheel.
Usually caused by high wear and tear in steering racks and tie rods.

  5. Excessive play in the steering wheel
If you have to turn the steering wheel more              than an inch before the wheels begin to turn,          then you can be fairly certain there is a                    problem with the steering gear

  6. Vehicle wanders or pulls to one side.
This often is a problem with a fatigued steering gear. Premature steering gear wear can be caused by lack of lubrication from power steering fluid, so you should also check for any power steering leaks when replacing a worn steering gear.

  7. Intense Vibrations from Underneath the Vehicle
Symptom of a problem with the driveshaft is vibrations coming from underneath the vehicle. If the bushings or driveshaft universal joint (U-joint) wears out, it can cause excessive driveshaft vibration.

  8. Drivetrain or Steering malfuntion warning
If your vehicle shows any kind of drivetrain or steering malfuntion lights or message, then its time for you to take it to us. You should never ignore the message as the problem turns into a major one if not checked.

At Eurospec, we use manufacturer's standards to diagnose, rectify and repair all types of Steering, Drive-train and Differential issues.
